Create Your Parent Roblox Account

If you don't already have one, go to roblox.com and sign up with your own email address. Use your real birthdate โ€” this is how Roblox verifies you're a parent.

๐Ÿ’ก Tip: Use an email address your child doesn't know. This keeps your parent account secure.
2
๐Ÿ“ฑ

Open Roblox on Your Child's Device

On your child's iPhone or iPad, open the Roblox app and log into their account. Tap the three-dot menu (โ‹ฏ) at the bottom right, then tap Settings (gear icon).

๐Ÿ”—

Go to Parental Controls

In Settings, scroll down and tap Parental Controls. Tap "Link Parent Account" and follow the prompts to connect it to your Roblox account.

๐Ÿ’ก Tip: You'll receive an email to your parent account to confirm the link.

Verify Your Identity

Roblox requires identity verification to unlock full parental controls. You can verify using a credit/debit card (a $0.00 authorization) or a government-issued ID. This confirms you are the parent.

๐Ÿ’ก Tip: The card authorization is $0 โ€” nothing is charged. It's only used for age verification.

Set Your Child's Content Maturity Level

From your parent account (on your own phone), open Roblox > Settings > Parental Controls > select your child's account. Set content maturity to: Minimal (best for ages 5-8) or Mild (ages 9-12). The Moderate level is the default for age-verified 9-15 accounts.

๐Ÿ’ก Tip: Roblox Kids accounts (5-8) automatically restrict to Minimal content only.

Configure Chat & Friend Settings

Under Communication, set who can message your child. For under-13, we recommend "Friends Only" or completely Off. You can also disable friend requests from strangers.

๐Ÿ’ก Tip: Roblox's 2026 update defaults under-13 accounts to public broadcast messages only โ€” direct messaging is off by default.

Set Daily Screen Time Limits

In Parental Controls > Screen Time, set a daily time limit (recommended: 1-2 hours on school days, up to 3 hours on weekends). When the limit is reached, Roblox automatically locks until the next day.

Set a Monthly Spending Limit

Under Spending Controls, set a monthly Robux purchase limit and enable spending notifications. This prevents surprise charges on your payment method.

๐Ÿ’ก Tip: Set this to $0 if you don't want any purchases โ€” your child will need to ask you directly.

Add Apple Screen Time as a Backup Layer

On the iPhone/iPad, go to iOS Settings > Screen Time > App Limits > Add Limit > Games. Set a daily limit for Roblox. This acts as a backup if Roblox's own limits are bypassed. Also enable "Communication Limits" in Screen Time for an extra layer.

๐Ÿ’ก Tip: Use a Screen Time passcode your child doesn't know โ€” different from your iPhone passcode.
