Most trouble on Roblox isn’t scary content — it’s scams aimed at kids, usually to steal Robux, items, or account passwords. The good news: they follow a handful of predictable patterns, and a few simple family rules stop almost all of them.
The Scams You’ll Actually See
- ✓“Free Robux” sites and generators — always fake; they harvest logins or push malware. Robux only comes from Roblox itself.
- ✓Fake giveaways — “I’m giving away Robux, just log in here / send your password.” No legitimate giveaway needs a password.
- ✓Trade scams — promising to “add the rest later,” or using look-alike items. Real trades are what you see, right now.
- ✓Phishing links — a message or friend request with a link to a fake Roblox login page.
- ✓“Beaming” — a con where a scammer tricks a child into revealing account details or authorizing a transfer, then drains their items.
The common thread: every one of these asks your child to click a link, share a password, or trust a promise. Name that pattern and kids can spot it themselves.
The Family Rules That Stop Them
- ✓Robux only comes from inside Roblox or a real gift card — “free Robux” is always a scam.
- ✓Never type your Roblox password anywhere except the real Roblox app or site.
- ✓Never click a link someone sends to “play” or “claim” something — come tell a parent.
- ✓Only trade for what you can see right now; never for a promise.
- ✓Turn on two-factor authentication so a stolen password isn’t enough to get in.
If Your Child Gets Scammed
Stay calm so they’ll tell you next time too. Change the password immediately, turn on 2FA if it isn’t already, and report the scammer with the in-game Report button. Roblox can sometimes help recover items, and reporting protects other kids.

Bottom line
Predictable & preventable
Roblox scams almost always ask for a click, a password, or trust in a promise. Teach the five family rules, turn on 2FA, and keep the door open so your child reports problems — that stops the large majority cold.
