Robux scams are among the most common threats kids face on and around Roblox. They're everywhere — YouTube comments, TikTok videos, Discord servers, and Google search results. Here's how they work and how to make sure your child can spot them.
The Core Rule: Free Robux Does Not Exist
There is no legitimate way to get free Robux outside of: buying it on roblox.com, earning it as a Roblox game developer through DevEx, or receiving it as a gift from someone who purchased it. Every "free Robux generator," every "earn Robux by doing surveys" offer, and every "Roblox is giving away Robux" claim is a scam. No exceptions.
The Most Common Scam Types in 2026
- ✓Phishing sites: Fake Roblox-lookalike websites that ask for username and password. They copy Roblox's logo and design exactly.
- ✓Survey farms: "Complete these surveys to earn Robux" — they collect your data and sell it. No Robux ever arrives.
- ✓Discord invite scams: Servers claiming to give free Robux for joining. Often lead to phishing links.
- ✓YouTube "inspect element" tricks: Videos showing how to add Robux using browser tools. These don't work — it only changes what you see on your screen, not your real balance.
- ✓Fake admin impersonation: Someone claiming to be Roblox staff offering free Robux in exchange for account info.
- ✓Trading scams: A player "overpays" for an item, then reverses the trade or charges back the payment after receiving your items.
