Is Piggy Safe for Kids? Age Rating & Parent Review (2026)

Parent Verdict

Use with caution — ages 9+

Piggy is a horror-survival game with genuine jump scares, a dark storyline, and infection mechanics. Not recommended for children under 8-9 who are sensitive to scary content.

Piggy is Roblox's massively popular horror-survival game, directly inspired by the Peppa Pig character — but twisted into a horror context. With over 8 billion visits, it's one of the platform's most-played games. The question for parents: how scary is it really?

What Age Rating Is Piggy?

Roblox doesn’t use numeric age ratings — it classifies experiences with content maturity labels (Minimal, Mild, Moderate, Restricted). Piggy sits at the Mild level, and based on its content we recommend it for ages 9+ (with a parent for younger kids). It’s a cartoon horror-survival game with jump scares that lean more silly than terrifying. Set your child’s Content Maturity accordingly and higher-rated games won’t load.

What Is Piggy?

Piggy is a hide-and-seek survival game where one player is "Piggy" — a zombie-like character who chases other players. Non-Piggy players must solve puzzles to escape before being caught. The game has a deep lore involving infection, abandoned houses, shadowy villains, and missing children. It's considerably more story-driven and darker in tone than most Roblox games.

Safety Assessment

  • Content risk: MEDIUM — horror themes, jump scares, dark storyline with infection/violence themes
  • Scare factor: MEDIUM — genuine jump scares; younger or sensitive children may be frightened
  • Chat risk: LOW — gameplay is too fast-paced for much chat interaction
  • Spending risk: LOW — cosmetic skins only
  • Social risk: LOW — primarily played cooperatively with strangers but limited interaction

How Scary Is It Really?

Parents are often surprised that Piggy is genuinely scary for its age group. The jump scares are real, the music creates tension, and the "infected" storyline is legitimately dark. For comparison, it's scarier than typical Roblox games but less intense than most teen-rated horror games. If your child is frightened by scary movie trailers or has nightmares easily, hold off on Piggy.

Recommended Age

Ages 9+ for most children. For children who enjoy horror content in other media (Goosebumps, mild Halloween movies), age 8 may be fine. Under 7-8, the horror themes are not age-appropriate.
