Discovering your child's Roblox account has been hacked is stressful โ but there's a clear process to recover it and prevent it from happening again. Act fast and follow these steps in order.
Act immediately. The longer a compromised account is active, the more items and Robux can be transferred away. Do not wait.
Step 1: Reset the Password Immediately
- โGo to roblox.com and click "Forgot Password or Username"
- โEnter the email address on the account
- โClick the reset link in the email
- โSet a new strong password immediately (16+ characters, mix of letters/numbers/symbols)
- โIf the email address was changed by the hacker: go to Step 3 first
Step 2: Enable 2-Step Verification
Once back in the account, go to Settings > Security > 2-Step Verification and enable it with an authenticator app (Google Authenticator or similar). This prevents future unauthorized access even if someone has the password.
Step 3: If the Email Was Changed
- โContact Roblox Support at roblox.com/support immediately
- โChoose "Account Hacked" as the issue type
- โProvide: original email address, username, and any purchase receipts or billing info to prove ownership
- โRoblox can restore the original email if you can prove ownership
- โResponse time is usually 1-3 business days
Step 4: Check for Item/Robux Loss
Review the account's transaction history (Settings > Billing) and inventory. Roblox Support can sometimes restore stolen items or Robux, especially if the theft happened through unauthorized account access. Report it specifically in your support ticket.
How It Likely Happened โ and How to Prevent It
- โPhishing site: Child entered password on a fake Roblox website โ only log in at roblox.com
- โShared password: Never share Roblox passwords, even with friends
- โReused password: If this password was used elsewhere, change all accounts using it
- โFree Robux scam: These always steal credentials โ remind child there is no free Robux
